This small parcel of vines is situated in the village of Prissé, just 30 metres from the vines of Pouilly-Fuisse in Vergisson. The vines are around 50 years old and grown on a stony soil. This year it is labelled "Vieilles Vignes" as only the fruit from the oldest vines was selected to make this special cuvée. Made from free-run juice only and fermentated and aged in barrel with 25% new oak. Bright lemon colour and bright lemon fruit on the nose - this is plump, with a lightly oily quality to its fruit, with a hint of toasted pine nuts. The palate is juicy, with a smoky wood and sweet fruit core, falling into notes of confit citrus and roasted peaches. Concentrated and long with baking spices and baked sweet apples on the finish, this is one of Verget's more generous and sweet wines in 2024.
Julian Desplans (wine maker and right-hand man of Jean-Marie Guffens) says that the 2024 Verget wines have both minerality and power. Picked from September 10th to 28th. They are reminiscent of the 2010 and 2014 vintages.
