Selosse Millesime, Champagne Jacques Selosse 2013

Tasting Notes

The 2013 Extra-Brut Millésime is outrageously great. Bright, saline and explosive, the 2013 sizzles with all the tension of this late-ripening year. The bouquet alone is so enticing. But that is just the beginning. On the palate, the 2013 is rich, deep and substantial. Time in the glass only serves to amplify those qualities. An eternal finish rounds things out. Dosage is 2.2 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 7, 2024. (Drink between 2027-2043)

The 2013 Millesime Extra Brut is a blend from across all the parcels and pours a medium yellow/golden hue. Opening to ripe aromas of lemon oils, fresh flowers, white peach, and honeycomb, it’s full-bodied and fills the palate with a rounded mousse and a ripe feel with lovely underlying tension, with its more mineral texture lasting long on the finish. I anticipate this one only improving over the coming 15-20 years, and readers should feel in no rush to open these. The wines for this report were tasted at the cellar in Avize with Anselme Selosse in September 2024. (Drink between 2025-2045)
