Harvested on September 20 and produced in just three barrels, the 2014 Aÿ Grand Cru Argonne Rosé was matured entirely in new oak and includes 6% still red wine from Aÿ. It opens with soaring aromas of orange peel, red plum, pear, toast and coriander seed, mingling with nuances of redcurrant. On the palate, it is full-bodied, vinous and elegantly muscular, with a tightly knit core of fruit, underpinned by incisive acidity. The finish is long and perfumed, where attractive bitter phenolics lend a grip. Disgorged in March 2022, it was finished with a dosage of six grams per liter.
You feel an incredible energy here with an aura from the pristine champagne. Spices, menthol, dried peaches, subtle pie crust and hints of rust. Medium-bodied with a focused center palate, a long, long finish and zingy acidity with a hint of wrought iron and balsamic at the end. Unique. Disgorged March 2022. Drink or hold. 660 bottles made.
