Hermitage Farconnet, Domaine Jean-Louis Chave 2017

Tasting Notes

Opaque ruby. Displays ripe, mineral-accented black and blue fruits, baking spices, olive and violet on the nose, along with a smoky mineral nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Juicy and broad in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet blueberry, cherry preserve and floral pastille flavors that deepen steadily through the midpalate. The floral note repeats on the impressively long finish, which features well-knit tannins and a smoky mineral flourish. (Drink between 2024-2034)

A little hard on the nose, it's very young still. Medium- to full-bodied, this is certainly Hermitage, it has that grandeur and stature. Intense and structured, this is good, but will improve. You can open this now, but try to wait until 2025. (Drink between 2021-2033)
