Grands Echézeaux, Domaine d'Eugénie 2009

Tasting Notes

**Note: from a .50 ha parcel with vines that range from 20 to 60 years of age with the average being about 25 years old**
As it is in 2010, this is the most elegant of all the wines in the 2009 range with ripe aromas of spiced plum, cassis, lavender and violet. The big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors possess copious amounts of dry extract that confers a highly textured mouth feel to the enormously long finish that is supported by remarkably fine tannins and impeccable balance. This is a simply fantastic example of the appellation that is Zen-like in its sense of harmony.

Noticeable but not dominant wood frames the very ripe aromas of spiced plum, cassis and a hint of mocha that runs more to coffee than chocolate. The big-bodied and overtly muscular flavors possess an abundance of dry extract that confers a highly textured mouth feel to the enormously long finish that is supported by remarkably fine tannins and impeccable balance. This is a simply terrific example of the appellation that is Zen-like in its sense of harmony.
