Mazis Chambertin, Domaine Dugat-Py 1999

Tasting Notes

Blueberry and black cherry fruit with a note of chocolate and licorice. Concentrated, deep and superbly flavorful with a lot more structure than the Charmes yet without the same intensity. Still, it should live longer and it will also require more cellar time to fully open.

Produced from 55 to 60-year-old vines, the dark-colored 1999 Mazis-Chambertin is profound. Its licorice, black cherry syrup, and chocolate chip cookie dough-scented nose leads to a hugely powerful, medium to full-bodied character. This road tar, blackberry, cassis liqueur, and spice-flavored wine has the density, structure, and balance for moderate to long-term aging. Projected maturity: 2006-2015+.
