Rivesaltes, Château Sisqueille 1936

Tasting Notes

The 1936 Rivesaltes has an oxidative bouquet like before, with tangy iodine and sea spray aromas, later a touch of smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with quince and dried honey, light touches of rose water developing with time, leading to a harmonious finish strafed with orange rind and Asian spices. This vintage is a write-off in most regions, so this is probably the best you will find from 1936! Tasted with Philippe Gayral. 2018 - 2028

Less than 50% Grenache Noir and more than 50% white grapes: Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu, Tourbat.
Pale yellow orange. Quite cheesy. Light bodied and strong citrus-peel flavours. Dry finish and somehow like a Sicilian pastry. Chewy. Fun. Quite light bodied.
