Tasting Notes

This is not as overtly spicy as the Genevrières though it's more floral with plenty of wet stone notes to the pear, apple and white peach scents. Here too there is excellent volume to the intensely mineral-inflected medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly seductive texture before culminating in a citrusy, markedly dry and austere finish. Don't even think about opening a bottle before at least 5 years have passed.

The 2011 Perrieres, here tasted as a barrel sample, has a defined, mineral-rich, and yet compared to the previous vintage, understated bouquet offering hints of white peach and vanilla pod. With time, there is a touch of patisserie developing. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity. There is candied orange peel and citrus lemon on the entry. It displays lovely balance and purity with a long, persistent finish. Tasted December 2012.

Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (207), June 2013

(one of the two 350-liter barrels was new): Pale bright yellow with a green tinge. Tangerine, pepper, ginger and fresh herbs on the nose. Sweet and silky in the mouth, but with terrific lemony cut to the ripe citrus and crushed rock flavors. In a cooler style thanks to adamant underlying minerality. Shows the refinement of a grand cru.
