The Roc de Combes, in similar fashion to the Tertre-Roteboeuf, has a Burgundy inspired bouquet with fine precision. The palate is medium-bodied with mulberry and dark plum fruit intermingling with Chinese tea and a touch of cloves. There is good balanced in this wine, a little sharpness towards the finish, but overall this is another fine Roc de Combes from Francois Mitjavile.

The greatest wine of all of the satellite appellations of Bordeaux and often close in quality to the same owner's top Saint Emilion, Le Tertre Roteboeuf. A wine for those "in the know". A right bank wine, yet only 4 or 5 kilometres from Chateau Margaux as the crow flies. This vineyard is a south facing slope with well ventilated vines. Perfect ripeness, that is almost unique in 2013, was achieved here. Picking was late - on October 15th. This wine tastes like Roc de Cambes, not like 2013 Bordeaux. A deep purple colour, with a very smoky, toasty nose of barbecue, vanilla, roasted cherries and plums. The palate has real purity and a smooth, silky texture. Milk chocolate, cedar, plums and black cherry form the core flavour of the wine, which has a long and spicy finish. A triumph of the vintage.
