This 100% Merlot cuvee has put on weight since I tasted it last year. It reveals a beautiful, exotic, coffee bean, sweet cherry, and cassis-scented bouquet as well as superb charm, lushness, and fruit. Reminiscent of a lighter-weight Le Pin, this beauty can be drunk now or cellared for a decade. It will not make old bones.
The nose has a hint of truffle and forest floor and the fruit character here is distinctly one dominated by plums. Very much in the Pomerol style, there are blueberries, plums and a background of dark chocolate. Soft and fleshy, this makes for delicious drinking now and it has a lovely acidity that carries the fruit through to a very pleasing finish.
Autumn leaf, black truffles the nose has charm with just a hint of maturity. The palate has depth richness ripe damsons, cassis and dark chocolate the lushness balanced by bilberry freshness. The underlying acidity carries the fruit on the finish long leafy brambly. 2014-24
