An absolutely spectacular wine (and one of my all-time favorites from this incredibly consistent and reliable producer of long-lived Cabernet Sauvignons), the 2001 is still an infant at age ten. Its inky/blue/purple color is followed by an extraordinary bouquet of creme de cassis, blueberries, black olives and white flowers. Dense and full-bodied with a multidimensional personality yet incredibly young and unevolved, this wine tastes no different than it did when I had it eight years ago. A remarkable effort from Philip Togni, it will not hit full maturity for another 5-10 years and should keep for three decades thereafter.
