Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses from Frédéric Mugnier has a very pure and perfumed bouquet with gorgeous redcurrant and wild strawberry scents, beautifully integrated oak, almost pastille-like as it opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a little strict and linear towards the finish, but the focus and the structure are superb. Classy and sophisticated from start to finish, this is one of the finest contributions to the vintage. Simply delicious. Tasted September 2016.
**Note: from old vines of an indeterminate age**
An intensely spicy and floral nose is composed of a wide ranging mélange of purple fruit and red currant scents along with a hint of sandalwood. In contrast to the muscular Bonnes Mares the middle weight flavors are all lace and satin yet it's lace and satin with superb punch and even more evident minerality on the extraordinarily persistent and impeccably well-balanced finish that is presently quite linear. This is a wine of harmony and intensity which will also require ample bottle age.

I found that the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses has much more complexity on the nose compared to the Bonnes-Mares. This has real intention with mineral-rich wild strawberry, red cherry and subtle floral aromas. The palate is taut and fresh, very linear at the moment with citrus lemon infusing the tightly-wound black fruit. There is great precision here, although it will clearly require several years in bottle. This is a serious 2013 Amoureuses.
