Tasting Notes

A beautifully elegant and markedly floral and spicy nose of mostly dark berry fruit is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is very fine delineation to the intensely mineral-driven and tautly muscular middle weight flavors that also possess knock-out mid-palate concentration before culminating in an explosively long finish. In the same fashion as the Brûlées this is very firmly structured and will likewise require plenty of bottle age to reveal its immense potential. This too is a "wow" wine.

The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux has a really quite alluring, complex bouquet with broody dark cherry, blackberry leaf and cold wet stone aromas that are both detailed and intense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, razor-sharp tannins that form a lattice around a core of red fruit. There is a pastille-like purity and an electrifying finish, whose "current" feels long in the mouth. This is very classy: a great Cros Parantoux, terroir shrugging off what the season threw in its way.
