This wine is a blend of Clos des Poncetys and Les Combes. Only 2180 bottles were produced. Mineral and fresh on the nose with lemon and apple turning to more peach and pear with air. The palate is creamy with lightly toasted notes giving way to fresh pear and lemon fruit, carried by crisp acidity to give a mineral and fresh character that lasts to the finish. This is a vibrant lively and refreshing style with excellent purity of character. Tense and smoky with just the right balance of ripeness, savouriness and acidity, this is a superb offering from Jean-Marie Guffens akin to the 2010 vintage in style.
Very firm reduction flattens the fruit at present and I suspect that it’s from the recent bottling. Otherwise there is excellent density to the mouth coating and caressing flavors that possess excellent power and length on the very serious and built-to-age finale. The nose is a mild concern since the reduction is not subtle but assuming that it lifts this offers impressive quality for its level and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt based on the outstanding underlying material. 90/2020+
Lime fresh on the nose the start of the palate is vibrant citrusy and mineral. There is a sweet feel on the mid palate creamy and rich ripe pear with at the back lime and apple giving brightness and freshness. Drink 2016-2022
