Perennially one of the best Côtes du Rhône on the market, the Perrins have hit the mark again with their 2015 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel. So complex, lush and rich, it can compete with many producers' Châteauneufs, this vintage reveals dark fruit, hints of cola, cinnamon and allspice and a long, slightly warm finish.
Leading off the 2015s from bottle, the 2015 Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel is impressive with its tobacco leaf, olive, and earthy, dark fruit-driven style. It’s medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, and has fabulous concentration and depth for a Côtes du Rhône. I’d happily drink it over the coming decade.
Bright red in colour with a ripe red cherry and plum fruit nose which is well defined with a hint of florality. The palate is pure and rounded with silky-smooth tannins layering fresh red cherry and bramble fruits at the core. Strawberries and a touch of garrigue linger on the supple, smooth, plush finish that is very moreish.
Ripe cherry fruit, simple on the nose but very impressive clarity on the palate. Not heavy, and full of expressive fragrance. Snappy, refreshing finish. Seems drinkable now.
