The domaine’s parcel in Bâtard lie just above the Bienvenues upper limit and have produced a brilliant wine in the 2014 vintage. The stellar and utterly classic nose offers up scents of apple, par, lemon oil, orange blossoms, a great base of soil tones and a judicious framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bdoied and really racy in profile this year, with a rock solid core, great focus and grip and a very long, pure and seamless finish. This seems to have even a touch more backend energy this year than the Bienvenues! (Drink between 2022-2055)
**Note: from a .22 ha parcel of domaine-owned vines in Puligny and aged in 50% new wood**
This is ever-so-slightly riper than the Bienvenues with a mix of white and yellow orchard fruit, acacia blossom, lilac and discreet citrus and spice nuances. The large-scaled, concentrated and powerful flavors possess superb intensity before concluding in an explosively long, lemony and stunningly persistent finish. I very much like the mid-palate mouth feel thanks to the abundant level of sap and while this isn't necessarily more complex than the BBM it is longer and more structured.
