Vosne Romanée Les Beauxmonts, Domaine Hudelot-Noellat 2015

This is spicier still with its slightly more deeply pitched nose of red and dark pinot fruit, violet, Asian tea and dried orange peel hints. There is much more minerality present on the vibrant and intense medium weight flavors that possess unusually good delineation for the vintage, all wrapped in a sappy, dusty and wonderfully long finish. This is very classy juice and like the Charmes, it's textbook Beaux Monts.

Tasted blind, the 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts performed very well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, licorice, smoked duck and an exotic but judicious framing of spicy new wood. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a supple, expansive attack, a succulent core of bright fruit and a long, flavorful finish. It's a lavish but controlled Beaumonts that should enjoy a broad window of drinkability. 2020 - 2040
