Vosne Romanee 1er Cru, Domaine Coquard Loison-Fleurot 2016

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru is a blend of two-thirds Les Beaumonts and one-third declassified vines in the lower part of Echézeaux, which is actually a single block traversing the two lieux-dits. The vines here are between 75 and 80 years old. It has a very clean and precise bouquet with shimmering red cherry and strawberry fruits that are exquisitely detailed. You can really feel the Beaumonts contribution here. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, perfectly judged acidity and just the right amount of tension to keep this premier cru on its tiptoes. Outstanding.
