Rich ripe greengage the nose has depth the palate breadth of flavour. The concentrated richness in the middle is balanced by citrus and apple the back palate lighter chalky with sweet fruit coming through enriching the finish. 2019-24
Reduction and wood overshadow the fruit today. The middle weight and attractively vibrant flavors possess a slightly finer mouth feel while offering apparent minerality on the slightly more complex and sneakily persistent finish where the wood displayed by the nose reappears. This possesses good development potential though as the description makes clear, it needs to clean up and harmonize.
This is from one of the best South-East facing slopes of the appellation, in Vergisson. Jean-Marie Guffens believes this to be his mineral wine but it is also precise and rich. The wine was matured in oak barrels of which 25% were new. Ripe and hedonistic on the nose with peaches and tropical fruit, toasted spices and creamy vanilla. The palate is creamy and broad, with smoky oak and ripe peach offering great power and intensity. The finish follows, with a slick glycerol texture and juicy fruit lingering in tandem with the toastiness.
