Tasting Notes

Mid crimson. A very juicy and moreish nose – lots of red fruits and damson also. Taught and tense with a distinct minerality and rounded assertive tannins. A refined wine, serious and already giving pleasure yet will give so much more with time. 2020-2032

The 2016 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi is a pretty, translucent wine, and also a very good example of where Einaudi is headed stylistically. Dried red cherry, mint, wild herbs and crushed flowers are all nicely lifted. In this vintage, the Terlo comes across as quite perfumed, but also lacking some of its customary depth on the mid-palate. It will be interesting to see if the wine fleshes out a bit more in bottle, or if it is destined to remain classically austere. 2021-2031

This has rich, dark, savoury notes verging on balsamic but with lovely fruity floral aromatics. Much more intense serious and vibrant than the 2015. Real grip, persistence and complexity – huge potential.

Barolo. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Brooding nose with quite a bit of power underneath and with a hint of camphor. Compact fruit tightly packed with powdery tannins. Very solid. This has a great future.14.5% Drink 2024 – 2034
