This too is quite restrained and requires aggressive swirling to reveal the notably ripe aromas of warm earth, black pinot fruit, roasted plum and wood nuances. There is very good size, weight and focused power to the larger-scaled and dense flavors where the supporting tannins are also raspy on the youthfully austere finale that offers just a bit more persistence.
Notes of spicy wild berries, plums, rich soil tones, dark chocolate and espresso roast precede the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot), a full-bodied, deep and concentrated wine that's firmly structured and built for the long haul. This is another promising effort that will round out with further élevage and bottle age.
Fairly deep colour with a spicy, sappy nose of red and black cherries. Chalky and peppery on the palate, there are waves of hedgerow fruit and a little sloe. The toasty, smoky notes of oak build through to the back end addid a softer edge to the bold tannins.
