Tasting Notes

Like the Chevalier, there is a touch of sulfur-induced skunkiness though it's not as strong as the aeration had more of a pronounced effect. There is excellent volume to the attractively refined, indeed even sleek, larger-scaled flavors that possess good levels of dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm acid spine shaping the beautifully long finale that delivers excellent depth. While the nose isn't especially attractive today, my rating offers the benefit of the doubt that it will eventually harmonize because otherwise there is much to like.

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, June 2020

The 2017 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, acacia honey, fresh pastry, crushed mint, citrus oil and blanched almonds. On the palate, it's full-bodied, muscular and enveloping, with a deep and multidimensional core, lively acids and chalky structuring extract, concluding with a long and reverberative finish. While this is quite an open and expressive vintage chez Ramonet, the Bâtard will certainly reward some bottle age.
