Tasting Notes

The early promise shown by Cloudy Bay's incursion into Central Otago is finally being fulfilled, as the 2016 Te Wahi Pinot Noir is the best example yet to emerge from the company's Northburn vineyard. It shows delicate floral and herbal aromas, hints of tea and roses on the nose. It's big and expansive on the palate, delivering mouth-filling cherry fruit before finishing with crisp acids, silky tannins and a hint of mocha. 2019 - 2025

Lightish cherry. Much more open than the 2015 and much better balance, the oak and tannins in better balance, allowing the fruit to escape. But it is still a little dry on the end. 2020 - 2025

This delivers a ripe, bold impression with a strong array of spiced plum cake, brown tea and dried black cherries. The palate has an attractive core of smooth black cherries and spiced plums. It’s all here. Drink in 2020.
