The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has the most complex bouquet among Jadot’s Premier Crus from this appellation, finely chiselled and focused. The palate is well balanced, citric and taut, yet it gains weight towards the finish The oak here is nicely integrated with a cutting spicy finish that lingers in the mouth for 45 seconds afterwards. Excellent. Closure: Diam
Hints of orchard fruit, clear honey, beeswax and citrus oil introduce the 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles (Maison Louis Jadot). A medium to full-bodied, ample and open-knit wine, it's delicate and precise but also a little ephemeral.
Pale lemon colour. Stony and fine on the nose, with preserved lemon and cool white pear. The palate is tense and salty, the power wrapped in a tight coil giving a vertical impression at this early stage. The spice of oak adds weight and generosity, but this wine will need time to unfurl in the bottle. The drive and power is increasingly evident towards the finish, which is very long and precise.
