Chambolle Musigny Amoureuses, Domaine Mugnier 2019

Tasting Notes

Mugnier's 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses is thrilling, soaring from the glass with scents of peonies, blood orange, rose petals, raspberries, bergamot and Indian spices. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's exquisitely refined, with melting tannins, vibrant fruit and a long, penetrating finish. Exemplifying the ideal of intensity without weight, this is worth every effort to seek out.

An exuberantly fresh and ripe nose is comprised by notes of crushed herbs, poached plum, black cherry, violet and lavender along with a panoply of spice elements. The elegant, silky and pure flavors possess a highly sophisticated mouthfeel while delivering superb length on the balanced and harmonious finish where a hint of bitter cherry pit character appears. This lacy effort dances across the palate yet the focused power and firm lashing of tannins make abundantly clear the wine's potential to successfully age over the mid to longer-term. Impressive.

Fine full crimson purple. The nose tells its Amoureuses story right from the start. A magnificent wealth of deep red fruit with the rhubarb streak of some wines this year, leading to a spicy and saline finish. The quality shows in the impressive persistence of this wine.
