The 1966 Rivesaltes has a more adhesive-like bouquet with burnt toffee, marmalade and figgy scents, perhaps just a little blurred compared to other vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with a tangy opening, revealing notes of marmalade, butterscotch, fig and stewed prunes. Real depth and vigour on the finish—this feels like it is loaded towards the back end. A riveting Rivesaltes cut in a richer style. Drink 2025-2040.
Very distinctive. Coconut – was some new oak used for this wine? Not the purest example. Grippy. Needs to settle down. (JR)
Reddish copper colour. The nose here is full of preserved lemons and candied fruits. The palate is succulent, generous, powerful and layered. This is a grippy, rich and intense wine. The palate is spicy, nutty and complex, there is even a note of toasted coconut shavings on the back end. Rich and long.
