Méo’s village-level Vosne is among the best wines at this level. It features a dark mulberry fruit with accents of earth and sweet spice. There density and tannin to spare, giving this a substantial texture that drinks more like a premier cru than a village-level wine. The grapes come mostly from Les Barreaux up-slope from Richebourg and Cros Parantoux. The rest is Aux Communes. The grapes are destemmed and gently fermented on native yeasts before ageing in cask (half new). There is more than enough extract here to support the generous oak treatment for this village wine. 2027-2045
An overtly spicy nose features aromas of plum, dark cherry and jasmine tea. There is excellent vibrancy to the sleek, refined and detailed medium-bodied flavors that display very solid depth and persistence on the youthfully austere, firm and balanced finale. 2029+
Deeper and more muscular than its Nuits-Saint-Georges counterpart, the 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village wafts from the glass with aromas of wild berries, spices, vine smoke and soil. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a strong effort.
