Brunello Dieci, Pertimali (Livio Sassetti) 2007

Tasting Notes

The Deici is a special bottling of Brunello that was released ten years after the vintage to commemorate the excellence of the 2007 vintage. The wine spent one year of its elevage in tank, followed by four years in thirty-three hundred liter Slavonian oak botti. It then spent another five years of bottle aging prior to release. The wine comes in at fourteen percent octane and offers up a beautifully refined aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, spit-roasted venison, a touch of orange peel, cigar wrapper, brown spices, a complex base of soil, a dollop of fresh oregano, cloves, a nice touch of oak and a topnote of bonfire. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and beautifully transparent in personality, with an excellent core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, still good acids and impeccable balance on the long, complex and very elegant finish. This is an utterly refined bottle of Brunello that is starting to approach its apogee of peak drinkability at fifteen years of age, but still has some tannin on the backend and will continue to cruise along magically for decades to come. Great juice. Drink between 2022-2055
