Like the 2017, this shows the imprint of its warmer vintage and sits apart stylistically. Aromas of bay laurel and loamy earth are infused with violet and a subtle minty freshness, which lifts the darker plum fruit profile. On the palate, gentle, tea-like tannins underpin the structure, continuing to build through the finish. Should deliver a very rewarding 20-25 years. That said, there’s real pleasure to be had now, and my advice is to enjoy it in the near term while the 2021, 2019 and 2018 vintages slumber in the cellar.
