I have strong affection for this full-bodied wine given that it remains among the earliest conduits to what Barossa does increasingly well today, outside of shiraz's solo act. Dense and dank, redolent of clove, pepper grind, slung game meats and Indian spice. The oak, malty and old school, drying and just a bit fusty. Yet the track record here is such, I am scoring on the side of optimism. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
Deep crimson. Sweet, dark-fruited and minty. Big and sweet and tastes acidified, with some dark cherry-chocolate on the finish. Rather obvious in its rich appeal. Old school but still popular in the room. Drink: 2023-2029
