The 2025 Heldervallei is Cinsault planted in 1988 next to Bredell's block of Chenin on an incline, around 4 km from False Bay and so exposed to sea breezes. This includes around 20% to 30% whole cluster with a partially submerged cap that extends the fermentation by five or six days. It is cropped at around three tons/hectare, which is relatively low. It has a very perfumed bouquet with crushed strawberry and raspberry fruit, rose petal and orange blossom, all delivered with impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with bright acidity that lends this Cinsault tension from start to finish. Animated redcurrant and cranberry fruit, quite stony towards the supremely well-balanced finish that has utmost focus and precision. Just a world-class Cinsault that is irresistible. Drink 2027-2044+.
