A wine to drink before the more shuttered 2024 Ava Syrah, this is also structured but is more approachable in its youth. Sourced from the schist soils of the Kasteelberg, it has the effortless concentration of vines that yielded just 1.5 tons per hectare, violet, thyme and lavender aromas, fig and blackberry fruit, a touch of steak tartare and a refreshing, medium bodied finish. A wine of impressive self-assurance. Drink: 2028-35.
