Based on the 2022 vintage and enhanced by 50% reserve wines aged in a perpetual reserve initiated in 2004, Sélèque’s NV Extra Brut Solessence exudes a bouquet of ripe citrus, peach and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, broad and textural, with a generous core of fruit underpinned by ripe yet lively acidity, exhibiting a phenolic structure and an assertive bitterness on the finish. Vinified in equal parts stainless steel and oak, it was disgorged in August 2024 with a dosage of 1.5 grams per liter. The blend comprises nearly equal proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, with an additional 10% Pinot Noir. 2025 - 2032
Seleque's Solessence is a wine I keep in my fridge door and which is so popular with friends and family that I've had to open multiple bottles of on more that one occasion. It is deliciously drinkable Champagne with broad appeal. The 2022 base opens with pure stone fruit and lemon zest, together with a little salted bread dough. The palate has a vibrant, citrus-led fruit core, supple mousse and tangy acidity. There is a lightly savoury, bready tone and a floral top note - everything comes together to make for a very appetising, moreish style. Bright, crunchy and textural with a long, complex finish, this overdelivers its price point with ease. Drink now or over the coming decade.
