The 2021 Sankt Nikolaus Riesling trocken GG is clear and flinty on the deep, intense and complex nose that shows ripe and concentrated white fruit. Full-bodied, intense and textural on the finish, this is a strong, structured and sustainable Nikolaus with remarkable complexity and length on the saline and savory finish. This is another pure and firmly structured 2021 cru from Peter Kühn yet the one with more flesh and textural substance. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023.
AP: 07 23. The 2021er Sankt Nikolaus Riesling GG trocken, as it is referred to on the front label, offers a superbly aromatic and undercooled nose of bergamot, cassis, blueberry, candied grapefruit, lime zest, fine spices, and minty herbs, all wrapped in a touch of licorice and smoke. The wine proves energetic and dynamic on the zesty driven palate. The acidity is however well integrated in some delicate cream and well-balanced structure. The finish shows, however, a great acidity kick, which cleanses the palate and makes one want to go for more. The after-taste has a salivating side, as it is full of yuzu, spicy, and salty elements. This is a splendid dry Riesling made for lovers of racy yet balanced and bone-dry expressions of the genre. 2026-2041
