Tasting Notes

The 2019 Barolo Serra is bright and sculpted in feel. Brisk acids and veins of tannin give the 2019 gorgeous translucent energy. Orange peel, crushed rocks, mint and cinnamon all grace this vibrant, linear Barolo from Davide Rosso. Give this a year or two in bottle. (Drink between 2024-2034)

Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, January 2024

Serra is always the more austere Serralunga Barolo from Giovanni Rosso; it deserves time and is not an easy wine. The nose is focused on earthy clay minerality, violet, dill, liquorice, dried cherry and peony. There's nice delicacy first due to graceful acidity, with elegant tannins at the fore but then a thick end, with massive sternness and an orangey character. A modern Barolo with old-fashioned typicity. (Drink between 2024-2050)

Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter.com, February 2023

The 2019 Barolo Serra has a bit more concentration in its color and offers notes of kirsch, sweet licorice, and dark mineral earth. Full-bodied, with ample rounded fruit and building structure, it is flush with raspberry coulis and flowers. Drink 2025-2045. (Drink between 2025-2045)
