not tasting note given.
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. The 2007 La Grave a Pomerol slightly exceeded my expectations. There is a slight aloofness on the nose at first, but with aeration this gradually unfolds to reveal pleasant, black truffle and smoke-tinged black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with leafy black fruit, quite herbaceous in style but in a positive sense, since it is supported by freshness and vitality. This is a perfectly decent early-drinking Pomerol. Tasted March 2015.
Drink Date 2015 - 2023
Tasted at Corney & Barrow's Pomerol dinner. The La Grave-a-Pomerol 2007 displays fine precision on the nose with lifted black fruits with just a touch of warm gravel (how apt!) The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, earthy. Very tight on the palate, firm tannins, quite high-toned and exuberant fruit with a compact, sour-bois tinged finish. It displays satisfactory harmony and length. This is certainly much better than it suggested out of barrel. Tasted April 2011.
