(with thanks to Pat Dukes). A notably ripe yet still elegant red pinot fruit, spice and earth-suffused nose is nuanced by a superb range of bass notes including game, underbrush and smoke that is in perfect keeping with the pure, ripe, supple and gorgeously textured big-bodied flavors that possess fine power and plenty of muscle. There is excellent drive and persistence to the velvety and mouth coating finish. There is so much sap that this could be drunk now though for my taste it remains very much a baby with plenty of unrealized development potential. An excellent Charmes that is very much still on the way up. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
