The 2016 Grand-Puy-Ducasse is definitely one of the best in recent years. The attractive bouquet features blackberry, bilberry, light floral notes and a subtle marine scent. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe black fruit laced with tar and tobacco. Quite harmonious, if not complex, and reassuringly long on the tertiary finish. Enjoy this well-crafted Pauillac over the next 15 to 20 years. Drink 2022-2042
The 2016 Grand-Puy-Ducasse is deep garnet in color. It needs a little coaxing to unveil notes of baked black plums, boysenberries, and crushed blackcurrants, plus hints of dried herbs, pencil lead, and tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is clean and crunchy, delivering pure black fruits and a chewy texture, finishing with a mineral lift.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Grand-Puy-Ducasse has scents of cassis, redcurrants, forest floor and bay leaves on the nose with a waft of charcoal. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly played with just enough fruit and chew, finishing earthy.
