Pungent aromas of sulfur and reduction crush the underlying fruit at present. Otherwise there is excellent concentration and sappy dry extract that possess a sophisticated texture and abundant minerality on the clean and very dry finish that possesses slightly better depth and persistence. Lovely.
The 2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière unwinds in the glass with notes of pear, hazelnuts, freshly baked bread, dried white flowers and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's deep and concentrated, with racy acids and a long, saline finish. This has turned out very well indeed and will reward some patience.
