AP: 10 13. The 2012er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese AP 10 proves rather backward and marked by smoky and subtly sulfur-infused elements at first. The wine takes a while to open up and reveal a fresher and more citrus-driven side. But then, it really comes into its own as some gorgeous scents of ripe pear, grapefruit, starfruit, ginger, fine spices, a dash of whipped cream, and lemony elements tickle the nose. Zesty fruits wrapped into ever so slight riper elements of petrol and smoke make for a stunning balance on the palate. This light-footed yet subtly creamy wine is firmly Spätlese styled (no declassification here!). This beauty is truly remarkable and enjoyable … but we would still wait another few years. 2027-2042
