An even crimson ruby with an engaging red fruit. Complete on the palate though with quite fierce tannins behind at the moment. Why not for Clos Vougeot? Plenty of persistence. Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Oct 2024.
Clos de Vougeot's 50.6 hectares are divided among over 70 owners, with Jadot having a 2.6 hectare parcel as well as 0.69 hectares under long term contracts. This year's has a nose sweet with perfumed red and black fruit - there is an underlying spice but the fruit really leads the way. The palate has the bite and structure built around a core of this fragrant, layered fruit. The tannins are firm, perhaps a little austere at the moment, but it feels like this will resolve nicely with a decade in bottle.
