The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, from vines planted in 1930/1931, comprises of two barrels this year. The nose was closed when we met, broody blackcurrant and blueberry scents, a bit reduced. The palate is more expressive with fine tannins, shimmering black fruit, orange zest and Asian spices. This builds in the mouth and fans out, whereas other Bonnes-Mares have come across as relatively skinny. This could turn out to be one of the best from this Grand Cru. (Drink between 2027-2050)
