Maurizio Anselma’s family bought plots within some of the region’s best vineyards during the 1970s. Somewhat of an enigma, the wines are rarely submitted to critics for tasting but they are some of the very best wines we have tasted from the region. Classic in structure, they and need a lot of time but there is a Musigny-esque perfume and elegance that runs through the range. Highly recommended.

Monforte d'Alba. Cask sample. Palish ruby. Lifted, peppery cherry nose with a suggestion of fruitcake. Lush fruit yet with plenty of acidity and bags of powdery tannins. The tannins take over on the finish, but this clearly needs more time.
