The 2025 Bourgogne Grand Élevage, matured with approximately 20% new oak, reveals an expressive bouquet of nashi pear, orange oil and white flowers, followed by a medium- to full-bodied palate that is ample and rich yet simultaneously vibrant, concluding with a precise finish. It has turned out particularly well.
This Bourgogne Blanc receives what Jean-Marie Guffens describes as a "Grand Elevage" - that is to say a similar method of production to his single vineyard wines. Made from grapes picked from old vines in the Peronne Les Légeres and younger vines in Macon Pierreclos, it also includes some of the fruit from Verget favourite Macon Bussieres Montbrison. It is matured for 10 months in oak barrels with 20% new oak. Bright colour with a sappy, lightly smoky nose of charred wood, lemon curd and peach. The palate is round, juicy and approachable, making it ideal to drink now. This hits all the notes you would want from a Bourgogne Blanc, it is smooth, fruit-driven and accented by well-judged wood. Spicy and juicy to the finish.
