In the past Jean-Marie's reds could be a little dense and heavy for my liking, but not so with this Tinus Syrah. Purplish ruby in the glass, it has scents of forest fruits, lavender and sweet cherry. The palate is bright and chalky with tannins, a real "vin de soif" with its pulpy, juicy fruit core. There are accents of star anise and black pepper, but this is a wine all about the fruit. Sumptuous and long, it should deliver real drinking pleasure over the coming 5-8 years.
