This famous Pomerol property has been owned by the Moueix family since 1950 and produces a wine that is always a classic of the appellation and keenly sought-after. The vineyard is now 18.7 hectares after more parcels were purchased on the plateau of Pomerol and Château Providence amalgamated (the lesser plots - some 5 hectares - being relegated to Lagrange à Pomerol). The vineyard is planted with 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and (rare for Pomerol) 3% Petit Verdot.

The 2024 blend is 99.5% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot. Double-sorting (manual and optical). Maturation in 50% new oak.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of creamy dark berries, fruitcake and chocolate introduce the 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple wine that's rich and creamy, with good depth at the core and soft structuring tannins.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2025

The 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus was picked from September 17 to 28 and aged in 50% new oak. This does not have the amplitude or complexity of the Trotanoy on the nose and it's green around the edges. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly spiced, with supple tannins and a dash of black pepper and tobacco. The finish demonstrates decent weight and character for the vintage. I appreciate the aftertaste here that lingers in the mouth. This is capable! 2028 - 2042

Mid ruby colour. The nose is very floral and high toned, with notes of iris and sage, together with bright cherry fruit. Spicy, bright and chalky on the palate, this is a vertical and quite sinewy style. The wood spice adds perfect seasoning, with gently handled fruit just starting to flesh out on the back end. This could well warrant a higher score if it knits together in elevage.

Thomas Parker MW, Farr Vintners, April 2025

Shows solid ripeness for the vintage with plums, cherries and some orange peel as well as hazelnuts and cedar on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, this has creamy tannins, a juicy finish and a bit of fresh acidity at the end. Pretty length. A blend of 99.5% merlot and 0.5% petit verdot.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Springs from the glass with vibrant notes of fresh blackberries and kirsch, leading to hints of iron ore, red roses, and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate delivers firm, velvety tannins and a great core of red and black fruit, backed up by a well-knit acidity, finishing long and spicy.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, May 2025

Gently toasted cedar and sandalwood, violet, lilac, powdery rose, plush fruits, savoury in the spirit of the vintage but with texture and even generosity, and velvety tannins. A great job from La Fleur-Petrus, seriously impressive and one to look out for - my wine of the Moueix stable in 2024. 50% new oak. Harvest 17 to 28 September, no chaptilisation, around 20% down on yield from a usual year.

The 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus is such a gorgeous wine. Sensual and inviting, the 2024 is impressive from the very first taste. Floral and spice aromatics resonate on the palate, where the wine is layered and delicate without sacrificing depth. The 2024 really builds from the mid-palate and into the finish, showing terrific persistence and fine overall harmony. 2034 - 2049
