As is often the case, the 2008 has a little more tannic spice and pure energy than most of the other Barbarescos in Luca Roagna's range. Here the flavors are bright, finely sculpted and totally alive in the glass. Pine, mint, crushed rocks, wild flowers and dark cherries all flow through to the firm, slightly clenched finish. Of the 2008s that Roagna has released so far, the Montefico is among the wines that will require the most patience.
