Tasting Notes

Pale lemon, a sense of authority which makes the Bâtard look like a pugnacious bruiser. The very first sniff suggests a great vintage. It is fully ripe, but it holds itself together, a really beautiful expression, and texture and persistence. Faint liquorice note shows the ripeness but this just absolutely works. Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Oct 2024. ***** 5 star wine

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy (98), January 2025

Jadot's Demoiselles is a 0.5 hectare parcel (of a total 1.28 Demoiselles within Chevalier Montrachet) purchased in 1794, and remained in the family until 1887 when it briefly passed out of their ownership before being reaquired. This always has quite a rich colour from a young age, and is lightly golden in the glass with notes of toasted cereals, honeysuckle and citrus curd on the nose. The acids are tangy and fine, balancing the creamy, butery fruit at the core. A satiny, rich wine but one with matching acid backbone, it will be best after a few years in bottle to knit together some of the smoky wood. I suspect at 10 years old it will be delicious to drink.
