Here too the nose is sufficiently reduced as to mask the fruit. On the palate though there is both good verve and freshness to the highly seductive and rich larger-scaled flavors that brim with sappy dry extract and evident minerality on the balanced, firm and lingering finale that exhibits focused power. This is really quite impressive and a wine that should amply repay extended keeping. Note: from a .90 ha parcel of 35 to 45-year-old vines with .62 ha located in Monts Luisants and another .28 ha in Fremières Drink: 2037+
Two thirds is in the Mont Luisants sector, one third Fremières. Fine mid purple. The nose is not vastly demonstrative but it is very fine. Then, afterwards, the wine expands enormously on the palate, almost as if there was some seductive Clos St Denis in the mix, but otherwise the wine is classic Clos de la Roche with perfect poise. Lovely. Drink from 2032-2045.
