Richebourg, Domaine Anne-Francoise Gros 2018

Tasting Notes

A little darker in purple, with a wilder touch to the nose. Some whole bunches. A dark and brambly fruit, but lifted. A miniature torrefaction. Overall, though, this is very fresh. Some white pepper notes. The fruit is a little redder at the back than the outset. Supple, subtle and persistent., splendidly harmonious and with a fine future. Big smile on the face here. Magisterial. Drink from 2033.

Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, September 2022

The markedly ripe yet elegant, complex and airy aromas of both red and dark currant that are spiked with a variety of floral, spice and wet stone traces. The palate impression of the tautly muscular and much more mineral-inflected broad-shouldered flavors is more refined if less seductive while delivering just a bit more persistence on the balanced finale. This is presently on the slightly toasty side and it too needs to add depth, but the underlying material appears to be more than up to the job and overall, this seems very promising.
